Harpitree Music School is an extended education department of Harpitree New Zealand the nation's leading harp distributor/dealer.

We are nested in the beautiful East Tamaki and Remuera studios.

We do not have multiple lesson rooms but one beautiful large open-space. All students can enjoy music lessons at our beautiful open-space studio.

A Bit About Ina

Harpistina (harpist Ina Yoon) is an award-winning harpist and one of the most active professional harpists working in the Auckland area. She is an Ockham Collective residency artist 2022, working and collaborating with New Zealand's most talented writers, musicians and actors.  Ina has trained in classical music for over 25 years and received a Graduate Diploma in Classical Performance from the University of Auckland under Yi Jin. She was previously taught by Carolyn Mills. She continues to develop professionally and is currently studying under Professor Ann Yeung at the University of Illinois.

Ina has been working with a numerous music groups around New Zealand such as Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra (Big Play), Auckland Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Youth Orchestra, Te Anahera Ensemble, Blackbird Ensemble, Polymnia Ensemble and Auckland Youth Choir. She was also selected for a mentorship programme at New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. 

In 2018 Ina won second prize at the New York music competition and was invited to perform at the 4th Korea International Harp Festival in Seoul, South Korea.

 

Ina's teaching journey started back in 2017, the same year that she found the nation's first and the biggest harp importer/store Harpitree NZ. Since then, she tried hard to make harps more easily accessible and affordable for the greater communities in New Zealand.

A Bit About Yook Hui

Yook Hui received her Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Music (Honours) in classical performance (violin) from the University of Auckland. She has also studied harp with Katryna Tan and Yi Jin. Yook Hui has performed in various orchestras and ensembles in both New Zealand and Malaysia including the Penang Symphony Orchestra, Penang Harpers, the University of Auckland School of Music Symphony Orchestra, and Te Anahera NZ Harp Ensemble. A passionate teacher, Yook Hui looks forward to sharing her knowledge and her musical experiences with students of all ages. Yook Hui is fluent in both English and Chinese Mandarin.

A Bit About Hae Jean

Hae Jean has recently finished her Bachelor of Music (Hons) in Classical Performance in Viola at the University of Auckland in 2021, and also has
her Bachelor in Music Degree within the same specialisation from the University of Auckland in 2020.
She is a passionate violist who transitioned from the violin in 2017. In the same year, she has received the “Most Promising Award” and “Highly Commended” at the North Shore Performing Arts Society (NSPAS), as well as 1st place at the West Auckland Performing Arts Competitions on
(WAPAC).

She was also actively involved in numerous musical groups including Auckland Youth Orchestra (AYO), which she was Associate Principal Viola in 2018, and the NZSO National Youth Orchestra in the second violin section.
She has a wealth of experience in teaching students of various age groups, from as young as 5 and up. She coached two chamber groups at Pinehurst School as a Performing Arts Manager in 2022, with one group going into the Top 12 in Auckland at the New Zealand Chamber Contest, a first time achievement for the school.
Her previous viola teachers include Veronica Kim, Elizabeth Holowell, and David Samuel (Former Associate APO Principal Viola) and most recently, Mark Bennett. She has participated in the International Akaroa Music Festival from 2018 to 2019 and 2021, and learnt from world class musicians such as Charles Castleman and Mark Menzies.

We are one of a few harp studio, and the only music school in NZ that specialises in harp teaching. All our tutors are highly skilled in both lever and pedal harps. We have beautiful Lyon and Healy and Salvi harps at our studios for tuitions. ​
